The Moscovian bulding in the background is called Casa Scânteii (originally known as the "Iosif Visarionovici Stalin"), currently called the House of the Free Press, it is a building located in the north of Bucharest, at the entrance to the Băneasa district. The style is socialist realism, an early 20th century communist form of neoclassicism, which arose as a reaction to modernism, especially Art Deco modernism, which in the communists' view belonged to "rotten western capitalism". The name of the building (which housed the country's main printing house) comes from the name of the Scînteia newspaper, the main written propaganda tool of the Romanian Communist Party.
