From 10 November 1939, the name of the station was changed to "București-Băneasa". It functioned as a royal station until 1947, when the Republic was established. After 1950, the station was used as a protocol station for the "presidential train" (actually the old Royal Train) of Romania's heads of state and for receiving foreign officials. When official delegations were received, the platform was covered with a huge Persian carpet. The station master was the one who drew up the train schedule, both for the special train and for the preceding locomotive, which usually ran 30 minutes ahead of the special train for security reasons.
