Sterntor, constructed in 1244, it used to be a part of the Medieval city walls.
In 1898 the gate, which was the last gate castle of the former city fortifications, was torn down despite the intervention of Kaiser Wilhelm II in order to improve the flow of traffic. Only two years later - in 1900 - a replacement structure was relocated a few meters under the same name on the north side of Bottlerplatz. It consists only partially of the remains of the former star gate, otherwise of a remnant piece of the city wall and its only surviving semicircular tower.
