The flag of the city of Bonn, based on the coat of arms. The funny thing is that the previous coat of arms of the city is the same as the coat of arms of the Bezirk Bonn. The change of this symbol was made after 1969, when another municipalities were incorporated to the city. Instead of uniting them under the previous symbol of Bonn, they decided to change the colors on the existing coat of arms and keep the old one as the symbol of the district that is the previous city.
