On 1 April 1938, the Düsseldorf-Duisburger Kleinbahn GmbH was dissolved and completely taken over by the Duisburger Strassenbahn GmbH and the Rheinbahn. From 15 July 1969 to 1977, a four-kilometer section of the tram line between Düsseldorf and Duisburg in southern Duisburg was converted into a Stadtbahn line. For this purpose, the stops between the Waldfriedhof and Kesselsberg were converted into covered stations with platforms for level boarding and alighting, the route was partially elevated and a heavily frequented road crossing at the Sittardsberg stop was rebuilt. The design with a central platform was also a novelty in the Düsseldorf tram network and required the use of vehicles with doors on both sides for the first time. With the founding of the VRR, line D became express line 79. (previous | next | back to album | 2022:06:04 21:58:16 | 49% of an album)
