Every last Sunday of September (since 1971) the Vohwinkeler Flohmarkt (flea market) takes place here, under the Schwebebahn on the Kaiserstraße. The Vohwinkel flea market developed from a modest, improvised district event in 1971 with over 300,000 visitors to the world's largest one-day flea market in 1980, with a corresponding entry in the Guinness Book of Records.
