Waterloo and City line, Its primary traffic consists of commuters from south-west London, Surrey and Hampshire arriving at Waterloo main line station and travelling forward to the City of London financial district. And actually, it was meant by the London and South Western Railway to be a connection of their terminus, Waterloo station, to the centre of London, as the construction of the terminus that was close to the City was impossible. They did have a connecting line running to London Bridge and Charing Cross, but the competitive hostility between the companies frustrated beneficial use of the connection and it fell into disuse at the end of 1867.
