Bonn Hauptbahnhof, the main railway station in the city. The first one was constructed in 1844 by the Bonn-Cologne Railway Company, as part of the West Rhine Railway, the current one however in 1884. In 1969, Bonn grew considerably by incorporating towns which includes the stations of Bad Godesberg, Beuel, Duisdorf, Oberkassel and Mehlem and, in 1971, the station was renamed Bonn Hauptbahnhof. The station sharply increased in importance in 1949, when Bonn became capital of the Federal Republic. During the planning phase of the Cologne–Frankfurt high-speed line in the 1980s and early 1990s, a proposal to build a new line via Bonn station was put into discussion. However, in the end, the line was constructed in a much cheaper way via Siegburg. The Siegburg/Bonn railway station is therefore now the HSR station for the city. This station can be reached by the 66 and 67 lines of the Bonn Stadtbahn. (previous | next | back to album | 2020:09:25 13:09:16 | 88% of an album)
