The Maartensbrug, a bridge over the Oudegracht and a national monument. The stone construction, which today connects Zadelstraat and Servetstraat, is named after Sint Maarten, the patron saint of the Dom and of the city of Utrecht. The Maartensbrug is the oldest bridge over the Oudegracht and was called the Borchbrug until the 16th century. There may have been a wooden bridge here as early as the 10th century. A stone Maartens Bridge was built for the first time in 1404. In 1906 the bridge was widened for traffic; Tram 2 ran over the bridge at the time.
