Vredenburg, a square close to the Hood Catharijne. It is also the name of the adjacent street that connects the Central Station with the Old Town. In the 12th century, a Johannes monastery dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria was founded on the site of what is now Vredenburg, possibly even before Utrecht received city rights in 1122.
