Waterlinieweg, a grade-separated road in the eastern part of the city. The road owes its name to its location parallel to the Lunetten on the Houtense Vlakte, part of the New Dutch Waterline. The Waterlinieweg was originally constructed in 1942 under the name Rijksweg 22, later changed to Rijksweg 222. Around 1964 the intersection with Prins Hendriklaan was replaced by a viaduct. The Waterlinieweg later became a municipal road and has lost its national road number. The road is part of the city ring of Utrecht, the speed limit has been reduced to 70 km/h.
