A line like this one is called isogloss. The Benrather line is just one of many (or, in other words, it consists of plenty of lines), as its closely related to the ik-ich line, dat-das line, Dorp-Dorf line and hebben-haben line. These nicely named lines separate other differences in regional linguistics in Germany. It is also used as the dividing line between Low German, Low Franconian and High German.
