Herbert-von-Karajan-Platz, named after Herbert von Karajan, who was a conductor from Salzburg. He came to Vienna in 1947 and started an impressive career after he become a director of Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde. He also worked in La Scala in Milan, became lifelong chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic in 1954 and was artistic director of the Vienna State Opera and the Salzburg Festival.
