Victoria Embankment, part of the Thames Embankment between the Palace of Westminster, though the Charing Cross (station) to the Blackfriars Bridge. It was designed by Francis Webb Sheilds and the construction was completed in 1870. In December 1878 Victoria Embankment became the first street in Britain to be permanently lit by electricity.
