King's Cross was a London terminus for InterCity 125 high speed services, along with Paddington. By 1982, almost all long-distance trains leaving King's Cross were 125s. Currently, the companies operating from the station are London North Eastern Railway (Intercity trains), Hull Trains (Intercity trains, open access), Grand Central (Intercity trains, open access), Great Northern (Regional trains), Thameslink (Thameslink). Another open-access operator, East Coast Trains, wants to run its trains from 2021 (it was initially planned to start in 2020, but corona).
