Canning Town, an interesting Underground and DLR station, opened in its current form in 1999, during the Jubilee Line Extension (to Stratford). LU is on the ground and DLR is on top... and on the ground. Previously there used to be a National Rail station called, well, Canning Town (which was called Barking Road before 1873 and was relocated in 1888). Later DLR stations to Beckton were opened (in 1998, top platforms), and a year later, in 1999, Jubilee line platforms (bottom platforms). And also branch services of North London Line continued on adjacent platforms. These platforms were closed in 2006 and replaced on 31 August 2011 with new Stratford International DLR branch platforms, which was constructed during the preparations to the Olympics.
