The tube station opened in 1863 along with the Metropolitan line, but the one on the photo was opened on 1 December 1968, when the Victoria line was opened. The station is an interchange between 6 lines - Hammersmith&City, Circle, Metropolitan (these three share the same tracks), Northern (Bank branch), Piccadilly and of course Victoria. The station was extensively rebuilt in the early 21st century to cater for Eurostar services that moved from Waterloo to St Pancras, reopening in 2007. The upgrade took almost 10 years to complete at a cost of 810m GBP, doubling the capacity of the station to more than 100k people daily.
