Day 2 – Chapter 2 – London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Ah yes, Canary Whaft, the secondary CBD in London, constructed in the 1980s, 1990s and beyond, is has also a very important and interesting maritime history, as the main part of London Docklands, a gate to the empire. The port was moved down the river to allow for the container ships to be serviced. The district is still in its construction phase, as many new towers (including residential, which is good) are being built. Nonetheless, in the central zone you can still feel and smell this wonderful 90s and early 2000s capitalism to which I am unapologetically nostalgic as the era of greater sense (and an era when consumer electronics were still interesting) than today, with these Occupy movements or whatever kids do these days.
