Station 1 – Kyiv – Day 2
The second day was much more focused, as the goal was to visit some museums for real (Chornobyl Museum in Podil and Railway Museum next to the main railway station) and see some “real Kyiv”, the space where people actually live and work. And yes, another goal was to take a ride on as many public transportation goodies as possible, including the elektrichka. Ok, but first some parts of Obolon – the district with our hotel – are shown. Next, Podil, a quaint historic district (with the Chornobyl Museum) is shown. Later, I've visited Poshtova Square with the funicular, which was very helpful in going up the hill, Volodymyrska Hill, and visiting a new pedestrian-cycling bridge and Friendship of Nations Arch, an old Soviet monument, that due to Russia openly invading Ukraine, has an added crack on it. Going further down, the European Square with the amazing Ukrainian House is just a stopover on the way to, once again, the Independence Square. Next, I hop on the metro and go to the Kyiv Pasazhyrskyi railway station to visit the railway museum and the things around the station. After a short tram ride to Lukianivska metro station and with a short metro ride I arrive to another destination – the deepest metro station in the world, Arsenalna. Oh, I have to say that Aroma Kava with a well-functioning AC was like salvation on that hot day. With a short pause on the Hidropark station and the island on the Dnieper, I arrive on the left bank on the river, on the Livoberezhna (left bank) station. After a short walk around the station I proceed to the Livoberezhna railway station. The train takes us to Troieshchyna neighbourhood, where the light rail is checked. After a trolleybus ride we arrive in Petrivka neighbourhood, in Оболонський район (Obolons'kyi raion), three stations away from our hotel.
