Legnica (Liegnitz) – an important city historically
When you list the cities in the Lower Silesia in terms of importance, Legnica is probably always the second one. After all, it used to be the capital of the Duchy of Legnica, which existed between 1248 and 1675 and was one of the Duchies of Silesia. It was also located on the trading routes, which was a core for the city's prosperity in the Middle Age and Renaissance eras. In 1740 it was fully incorporated into Prussia, later part of the Province of Silesia but a seat of the Regierunsbezirk Liegnitz, a subregion. Today it's a larger settlement next to Wrocław, which means that you can actually live in Legnica and work in Wrocław. It is, after all, a really nice city, isn't it?
