Zamek Książ (Schloss Fürstenstein)
It was initially constructed in 1292 (although it has been extednded and rebuild many times since then) by Bolko I, a Duke of Jawor and Świdnica. Its owners changed many times until it was transfered to the Hochberg (Hoberg) family in 1509 and it was owned by them until 1939 (when it was taken over by the Nazis), with the last Hochberg family member, Maria Teresa Olivia Hochberg von Pless was forced to move out. In 1941 it was transformed into one of the Adolf Hitler's headquarters. During the transformation a concentration camp subsidiary was created nearby, the interior of the castle was highly damaged and a shelter was dug. It is also claimed that the site was planned to house a Wunderwaffe (e.g. nuclear warfare) development site.
