Eindhoven – the city of light
The largest city in the province of North Brabant, the 5th largest city in the Netherlands (232 thousand people live there), the home town of Philips, a lot can be said about the City of Eindhoven. It is an important transportation hub (that's why I actually visited it in the first place) and it is a vibrant university city. They speak a combination of Kempenlands (from the south and south-east) and North Meierijs (from the north) dialects, that is part of the East Brabantian group, the city does not have its own, uniform dialect though. It is the seat or the former seat of some industrial giants, like DAF and Philips. It is in the traditionally catholic part of the Netherlands and this faith remains the largest religious denomination in the city.
